My new book
I'm in the middle of writing my new book at the moment about 'couch surfing the globe'. It's a snapshot of the world by staying on people's couches! Using the websites Couchsurfing.com, GlobalFreeloaders.com and HospitalityClub.org (you should check these sites out – they are so cool. It's basically FREE accommodation everywhere in the world!) I visited two countries in each continent and my idea was to get to know a country/city not as a tourist, but as seen through the eyes of a local. My around-the-world odyssey took me to:
- Santiago, Chile
- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Chicago, USA
- Kitchener, Canada
- Reykjavik, Iceland
- Antwerp, Belgium
- Luxembourg City, Luxembourg
- London, England
- Istanbul, Turkey
- Nairobi, Kenya
- Jo'burg, South Africa
- New Delhi, India
- Manila, Philippines
- Dili, East Timor
- Darwin, Australia
I have until the end of August to finish the yet untitled book (anyone got any good suggestions?) and it should be out early 2008.
Rule No. 5: No sex on the bus in Thai
Joining Rule No.5: No sex on the bus in Mandarin is a Thai version (the country has an army of women who shoot ping-pong balls out from their nether regions, so I don't think the tales of debauchery should bother them too much.
Travel Plans for 2007
A bit light on for traveling this year (for my standards at least). In January I was skiing in the Swiss Alps (the Jungfrau region). In June it's the end of my Couch Surfing Tour of the Globe in Darwin and East Timor. August is more skiing in New Zealand (staying in Wanaka). Plus I'll be taking my family to Vietnam and Cambodia in October. Well, I suppose that doesn't look too bad really!

New covers
As of May 2006 'Rule No.5: No sex on the bus' and 'Planes, Trains & Elephants' have updated covers. If you already have the old versions why not get the new ones to make a matching set.
Rule No. 5: No sex on the bus in Chinese
Rule No.5: No sex on the bus is now published in Mandarin (Ten Points Publishing in Taiwan). The cover does look a bit like 'Rugrats go to Paris' but I'm assured it's still the same fun and debauchery inside.
