Hi Pete, you were lucky then! I got a quote to get ‘forensics’ done and it was $2500 (too much for us poor writers). I’d given up getting my stuff back, but a friend of a friend (who works in computer fraud and searches hard drives all day) is going to have a ‘look’ for me and he is confident he can get something back. I’d be happy with 2/3rds as well!

Peter & Steph: Hopefully I’ll get my manuscript back and then I can get on working fast to finish it!!

Hey Brian – same thing happened to me a while back. Have you looked into getting the drive ‘forensically’ recovered? Costs a fortune but you might be lucky. I got about 2/3rds of my data back for the princely sum of £395!

Sorry to hear that, Brian. I’ve lost some of my writing before and it was heartbreaking, but there is an upside, which is: You can now write an EVEN BETTER copy, cause you’ve had time to make new connections and mental shortcuts. Going back to already explored places can only improve the storytelling.
