Just arrived in Wanaka, New Zealand for a ski holiday and the snow is choice. This is my seventh ski holiday to NZ and I love it here. It’s like going to a foreign country. They have funny money, they drink strange but tasty beer and they speak funny. I’ve been teaching my daughter Jasmine how to speak Kiwi-ese and if we decide to get some takeaway food she’ll be able to order the ‘Fush end Chups. I’ve compiled my own little list of Kiw-ese, which goes something like this…
Milbun – Capital of Victoria
Peck – To fill a suitcase
Pigs – For hanging out washing
Nin tin dough – Computer game
McKennock – Person who fixes cars
Dusk – computer device for storing information
Disk – A place to sit at work
Kiri Pecker – Famous Australian businessman
Jungle Bills – Christmas Carol
Betting – Betting gloves are worn by betsmen in crucket
Brist – Part of human anatomy between nick and billy
Dimmer Kretz – Those who believe in democracy
Error Buck – Language spoken in countries like Surria, E. Jupp and Libbernon.
Duck Hid - term of abuse directed mainly at men.
Inner me – Enemy
Guess – Vapour
Fear hear – Blonde
Ear roebucks – Exercise at gym
Duffy cult – Not easy
Bug hut – Popular recording
Sucks peck – Half a dozen beers
One doze – Well known computer program
Beggage chucken – Place to leave your luggage at the earport
Funny Ek sent – Which is what New Zealanders probably think us Australians have!
