Brian in the jungle

July 21st, 2008

I was sorting out my ‘iMovie’ files on my computer today and I found the promo video I put together for ‘Where’s Wallis?‘. These promo videos are used by the sales reps to help sell the books into the bookshops and are mostly only seen by the book shop owners. The videos, which are often very simple, are usually put together by the publisher, but I shot and edited the video myself with the help of a friend and his shaky video camera. Anyway, I thought you might like a look. The sound is a bit dodgy at the end of the video (the sound was fixed up for the final edit) but at least it’s not as bad as my dodgy accent or my dodgy choice of fashion!

I love this! Especially that hat you’re wearing! I find that your books are published in Oz before they come out here in the US (I live in New York — see what you can do about that, please!), so I told a friend from Perth who was visiting last year that he could stay on my couch on the condition that he bring “Where’s Wallis?” with him for me. I had to hide it to stop myself from reading it before I went on vacation (I like especially to read travel writing when I’m traveling). I loved it and have my own “Where’s Wallis?” list, though I am not really sure I could go anywhere without my guidebook, but I think it’d be good for me to be a bit more adventurous! I have a friend who is volunteering in the The Gambia right now and she was writing me about how frustrating it was that they only took Visa and not her MasterCard in East Africa and I was hysterical laughing thinking about how that also happened to you! LOVE your books, have read them all and can’t wait for the next one!!!!
