How to slack off from work for an hour…

Friday, May 29th, 2009

The lovely folk at the Athenaeum Library In Melbourne recorded my ‘library talk’ this week and put a podcast of it on their website. Amazingly, some of my talk actually made sense and those people I paid to laugh all the way through did a wonderful job. There may be some confusing parts as well, though. But that’s not just because I was talking too fast, but also a powerpoint ’slideshow’ accompanied my talk. It’s goes for a somewhat long-winded hour, but if you’re slacking off at work you can listen to it here… (read more)

Look how excited everyone is! That’s because I’m doing two library events this week complete with slide show and ‘witty’ tales about my latest book Sleeping Around. You can catch me at Pakenham Library on Tuesday May 26th at 7.00pm and at Athenaeum Library in the city on Wednesday May 27th at 1.00pm. For full details check out my events page. I’ll also be selling and signing books, which you can then sell on ebay for thousands of dollars.

It’s called ‘Couch Surfing – Eine abenteuerliche Reise um die Welt’ (or translated into English: ‘Couch Surfing – An adventurous journey around the world.’) And this is the cover. (For ALL my loyal German readers the book will out in late September – check it out here). At least I know what the translation is! In the Thai translation of ‘Rule No.5: No sex on the bus’ I have no idea what the title of the book is. And the Thai’s don’t have a very good track record for book and film title translations. Here are some recent Thai translations of books and films… (read more)

Okay, I have been super slack on the blogging front. I’ve been home back in Australia for two weeks and I still haven’t updated the rest of the blog from my travels. No excuse really. Just slack. I had full intentions to blog when I was travelling, but then I got so far behind (courtesy of no internet network in Burma for nine days) that I just never got around to catching up. BUT, I am back on board and I’ve got a lot of travel blogging and general blogging news to catch up on. I’ll start with some stories and pics from the rest of my trip for my new book…. (read more)
